iPoker with some interesting changes

April 2, 2010

ipokerlogoIPoker used to be the largest poker network in the world and was close behind Full Tilt and PokerStars. Nowadays, PartyPoker is the largest network and iPoker is losing more and more. They have been pretty lazy and thought there’s no need to change. Now it seems that they realized that something has to be done. The biggest effort should be the resizable tables that will be available early April. This was something everybody complained about and iPoker just told players to be patient and it will be done “soon”. Now it seems to happen!

Another change will be made with cash game tables. “Big Stack” tables with 30 BB minimum buy-in will be available soon and that should decrease the amount of short stack players. They seemed to rule ipoker with some nitty players making the whole network less interesting for good players. That will change now!

Another change will be done in ipoker rakeback policy. Ipoker skins now have more room to create some good VIP programs and give actually rake back. That was highly forbidden within iPoker network so skins paid players under the table and that situation was out of control lately. These rakeback policy changes should make iPoker more attractive to promote again. Networks like cake, entraction and boss media have fixed rakeback % and have no problems. Entraction rakeback is 30 % and not more. They have no confusing VIP system where players have no idea how much rake they will get back.

wsoplogoThe World Series of Poker is by far the biggest series of tournaments played every year. Each year there are thousands of players traveling to Las Vegas in search of fame and fortune. Since the WSOP Main Event has a huge buy-in of $10.000 there aren’t that many players who are keen on forking out the buy-in on their own. The players are often looking to qualify either online via WSOP satellites at online poker rooms or they try their luck at satellites held at the casinos in Las Vegas.

PKR Live Scheduled for May in London

March 23, 2010

pkrpokerbonusIf you are a fan of the three-dimensional online poker site, PKR, or even if you haven’t checked it out but always wanted to, here’s a great opportunity to do just that. PKR recently announced that they will return to London’s Loose Cannon Club to host the PKR Live IV event. This live poker tournament will kick off on May 7th and culminate on May 9th, giving PKR players a chance to bring their 3D online avatars to life and play against each other face to face.

PKR Live IV will include a $500 main event as well as a $150 side event, but there will be plenty of cash games and sit n go’s on the side to accommodate all of the PKR fans who will be showing up for a chance to participate in the three day poker fest. If you are planning on going, don’t be late because you won’t want to miss the kickoff PKR Poker Party scheduled for May 6th, the night before the action starts. Knowing PKR’s reputation online and offline, this party promises to be a stellar event.

There are more players expected than the last installment of PKR Live, as this time around the buy-in has been halved from $1,000 to only $500 making it more affordable for players from all corners of the world. Just take what former PKR Live II champion, Karl “discmonkey” Fenton has to say about his victory: “No amount of blogs, posts or pictures can really put into words what this weekend means to those who really love the community and friendly ethos of our site. Plenty of other poker sites exist, but none are able to match this kind of weekend.”

One of the reasons PKR is so successful is that it truly is a different online poker experience. The 3D avatars and environments make playing online poker more realistic with such elements as tells and bluffs incorporated into the software design. If you haven’t tried it, you need to. Another big reason to try out PKR.com is the fact that you can get a pretty decent PKR Poker bonus right now.

Differences Between Live and Online Poker

March 19, 2010

Several Differences between Online and Live Poker

The game of poker is one that has seen many changes in its time. The exact roots are subject to debate, however some facts are known. Poker spread to into the backs of bars, to private home games and eventually into casinos. Now is a new age as poker games have moved to the internet. So the question is, what does this mean to the poker player?

The speed of play is an important factor between online poker and live poker play. On the internet the game moves along very fast. The online poker rooms instantly ’shuffle the deck’, so there is no time wasted. Also the computer dealer on the online poker site does not make mistakes or drop the cards. Another factor in the speed of play is the players. In online poker the player is only given around 10 seconds to respond before the software starts beeping and alerting the player. In a live card room a player is sometimes distracted by a conversation with a friend, or ordering a drink and this slows down the game. Because of these factors, it is important to be careful when playing online. If you go on tilt online you can lose a lot faster.

A great advantage to online poker is the availability of a poker game or poker tournament at any hour. With players stretched out across the globe, any time is a great time to play poker. A live game can be harder to come by, but that of course depends on where you live. Before playing at a poker site, please read online poker reviews so you can see if it is a good poker room or not.

Another thing to consider with online poker is the cost of play. With online poker you will usually pay a lower rake per hand. You will also not be expected to tip the dealer, or the waitress for that matter. With the high speed of online play any winning player will win more.  Also online poker rooms offer sign up bonuses with poker bonus codes.  Be sure to get the best poker bonus when signing up at a new poker site.

These are just a few of the differences you will find between live and online poker. There are many other things to consider, such as game selection, amenities of live rooms and others. If you haven’t tried both ways of playing poker you are missing out, and I suggest you go out there and give it a try!
