Joe Cada Wants Legal Online Poker

December 9, 2009

joecadaJoe Cada won the World Series of Poker Main Event this year and has been taking on the role as an ambassador for poker. It seems he is really taking this new role seriously and is putting a lot of work and effort in to making poker accepted in the US.

In the States there are always a lot of discussions about gambling on the internet and if it should be regulated or not. Should online gambling become regulated it will have a huge impact on online poker as well. Joe Cada is one of the people who are currently fighting for poker on the internet to be legalized.

Recently he went in front of congress and talked about why online poker should be legal.

In an interview with Time Magazine Joe Cada had the following to say:

I support the right to play online poker. Poker is not gambling. It is a hobby, an activity and a game. Poker is not about luck, it’s about logic, decision making and math.

Play against Daniel Negreanu on Tuesdays at PokerStars

December 9, 2009

pokerstars-logoOnline poker giant PokerStars are trying to create the same friendly games as you have in your home games by starting something called Team Pro Tuesdays. During the Team Pro Tuesdays at PokerStars.com you will get a chance to play against some of the Team PokerStars Pro’s at the different games and levels.

With this new concept at PokerStars you will now be able to really test your skills against some of the best poker players in the world. If you feel you are not quite ready to start taking on full blooded poker pro’s then you can still sit and watch the games being played and chat with the pro’s at the tables.

During the month of December PokerStars will be running two “Outlast the pro” events where you get to play in a tournament against these poker pro’s for as little as $11. In these tournaments PokerStars are adding $1000 to the prize pool and those players who manage to outlast the pro in the tournament gets to share those $1000.

It gives the tournament an interesting twist. If you have a big stack you will be hoping that the poker pro’s stay in the tournament while you are just waiting for them to bust out if you are short stacked, said Daniel Negreanu about these new tournaments.

Right now PokerStars are offering a 100% bonus up to $600 for players who sign up using the PokerStars marketing code PSP11903.

New Nightmare for Isildur1 at Full Tilt Poker

December 9, 2009

fulltiltpokerlogoIsildur1 must have been hoping that he was just having a bad dream when waking up on Wednesday morning after having lost huge during Tuesday. Isildur1 could be found playing the $500/$1000 Pot Limit Omaha tables at Full Tilt Poker against Brian Hastings.

After having played for hours Brian Hastings took down the last pot of the day which was worth $59.000, but before that he had been winning a lot more. Over the whole session he took $3.3 million from Isildur1’s bankroll which means that the unknown high stakes Swede is now at a loss at FullTilt again.

Considering Isildur1 is now down $1.6 since he started playing at Full Tilt Poker the talk about him being broke is starting to be a hot topic across the various poker forums. A lot of the railbirds at these poker forums who obviously know it all also agree that Isildur1 should stick to playing No Limit Hold’em as his PLO game is really making his bankroll suffer.

James Akenhead Wins Full Tilt Poker Million VIII

December 8, 2009

James Akenhead is having an amazing year to say the least. It’s not enough that he managed to get to the final table of the 2009 WSOP Main Event and the 2009 WSOPE Main Event. His latest accomplishment this year is a victory in the Full Tilt Poker Million VIII.

I have reached a lot of final tables without getting a victory this year so to finally get to win a big event like the Full Tilt Poker Million feels amazing. I think I played really well throughout the tournament. I trusted my instinct and my reads and I didn’t make a lot of mistakes during the tournament, Akenhead said in an interview.

Below are the results from the Full Tilt Poker Million VIII

1. James Akenhead – $500.000
2. Juha Helppi – $250.000
3. Dag Martin Mikkelsen – $200.000
4. Luke Schwartz $150.000
5. Craig Wakeham – $100.000
6. Peter Vasilou – $75.000
7. Taylor Caby – $50.000

Isildur1 Back at Full Tilt Poker

December 8, 2009

fulltiltpokerlogoAfter having lost over $5 million at Full Tilt Poker since his peak there has been a lot of speculation about Isildur1 being broke.

Yesterday he made a comeback at the high stakes tables at FullTilt and proved all the railbirds who have been saying that he is broke that they have been wrong. Between the 5th and 6th of December Isildur1 made a $1.6 profit. The statistics at HighStakesdb.com also show that Isildur1 is up about $2.1 million over the last 24 hours after having played 6148 hands.

The two players that have been taking the hardest beatings during this comeback are Tom “durrrr” Dwan and Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies. Ziigmund is a $1.4 million loser over the last 1116 hands while durrrr is down $562.000 over the last 3766 hands.

It will be very interesting to see if Isildur1 can get another amazing hot streak going. We wouldn’t be surprised if we get to see some new record pots at Full Tilt Poker in the coming days as Isildur1 is clearly looking to make some nice Christmas cash.

If you are looking to try your luck against Isildur1 or just want to have an account to watch the action we suggest using the Full Tilt referral code PRULESNET as it will give you up to $600 for free when making your first deposit.

Tom “Durrrr” Dwan Hits Major Hot Streak

December 6, 2009

tomdwanhatIn just a couple of days Tom “Durrrr” Dwan managed to lose over $6 million at the high stakes tables at Full Tilt Poker. The biggest losses were made agains Swedish player Isildur1 who won huge sums of money from Dwan only to lose it all back to other players at FullTilt the last couple of days.

After the many big losing sessions against Isildur1 it looked as if 2009 was going to be a catastrophic year for Durrrr but if he can keep this up might end up having a decent year after all.

To say that Dwan got a dream start to the month of December would be an understatement as he has made a $2 million profit over the first 4 days of the month.

It will be interesting to see if he can keep it up or if it was just a short hot streak.

Johnny Lodden Talks About Isildur1

December 5, 2009

anonymousJohnny Lodden is a player that used to play the highest stakes at the Prima Poker Network before it became the Microgaming Network. He has been winning and losing huge amounts playing online poker which should make him qualified to relate to the situation of Isildur1.

Johnny Lodden, who is now a part of Team PokerStars, looks back on his day as a high stakes gambler on the internet and had the following to say:

“When you have the money online it is different. If I had a bag in front of my with $3 million things would be different. But if you only have chips and and virtual numbers on a computer screen you act different”.

The following part is directed mostly at Swedish high stakes player Isildur1:

“I think he is young and don’t understand the value of money. But I love his No-Limit Hold’em game. I mean, he is really good at Pot-Limit Omaha but he is much better at No-Limit Hold’em”.

New Record Broken at PokerStars

December 5, 2009

pokerstars-logoIt feels like we are reporting about new records being set at PokerStars at least a couple of times a month. The Russian player who recorded over 40.000 hands played within a 24 hours period at PokerStars.com did not get to hold on to the record for very long.

The record has already been broken by a player who goes under the alias “ChicagoJoey” who managed to play 50.470 hands in just 21 hours. Not only did he break the old record but he also managed to do something that the Russian player failed to do, to make a profit.

“ChicagoJoey” played at the $0.10/$0.25 pot limit and no limit tables and ended up making a profit of $800 after 21 hours and 50.470 hands. This makes it an hourly wage of about $38. But he also won $33.000 from one of his friends in a prop bet for having completed this challenge.

If you want to try to beat this record you will need to have an account at PokerStars. Use the PokerStars marketing code PSP11903 when creating your account together with the deposit bonus code STARS600 for a free bonus up to $600.
