Gus Hansen moves down in levels

September 7, 2009

Gus Hansen have lost huge amounts playing online poker this year. Now it looks like he is moving down in levels to try to get his bankroll back to his former glory.

Gus, who is a Full Tilt Poker pro is playing at the highest level you can find on the internet and he is used to the huge swings that comes with it. But now it seems as if the Dane needs a bit more money to feel comfortable playing against players like Tom “durrrr” Dwan, Patrik Antonius and Phil Ivey at the really high stakes tables. Or it could just be that his bankroll is no longer big enough to justify playing at the higher stakes.

The reason behind this speculation is that today when a member of Online Poker News logged on the their FullTilt account to join the rail birds at the high stakes tables he was very surprised to find Gus Hansen playing at the $50/$100 No Limit Hold’em tables instead of his usual $300/$600 limits. It seems as the move down in levels might have been a good move by Gus because while we were watching him play he actually managed to win most of the big hands in which he participated.

Hopefully Gus will manage to turn his bad trend around on these lower limits or else he might be heading the same road as the Swedish player “Maratonas” who after winning over a million at FullTilt in a week managed to lose it all back and more.

So far this year Gus is stuck $2.3 million playing online poker at the FullTilt high stakes tables.

Wow, never thought I would see a gambler like Gus Hansen move down to the $50/$100 level no matter the size of his bankroll. I guess this just goes to prove that even though his playing style is crazy he is still a smart guy who knows good bankroll management.

Got something to say?
