PRWeb to stop promoting online gambling
April 18, 2009
A press release distribution site Ferndale, has announced that the Washington located PRWeb has been ordered by the Washington State to end their online gambling promotions. This press release service was the news according to some reports issued earlier on this week.
After over 72 hours, the emails and chasers repeatedly sent to the site and its parent group, Vocus Inc., in Maryland questioning confirmation of this ban and the grounds on which it is be based are still unanswered.
It was already a well known fact that the Washington state is harsh and uses a very hard-line approach towards its online gambling but are nevertheless lenient towards and allow the other forms such as land gambling. Class C felony punishment measures usually applied for the more serious and personal crimes of the State are now being used for online gambling misuse.
Vocus Inc, the parent group of PRWeb.com is a publicly held firm providing public relations, distributing press releases over the Internet via RSS with the on-demand Web-based software. Yahoo! News, Google News, Lycos News, Topix.net, Excite News and eMediaWire are acting as distribution partners.
Despite the Washington State threat to the human principle of free speech and the lack of details about the legalities and justifications for this ban, the State ban still has not received a lot of media attention.
